Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha opened the Bharat Mata Canteen-cum-Night Shelter House at GBP Hospital this Wednesday. The project cost nearly Rs. 5 crore. It aims to house and feed families of patients receiving treatment at the facility. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, and various senior health officials attended the event.
Saha walked through every room after the ribbon cutting. He demanded strict maintenance and better security. He wants a command center and more CCTV cameras installed immediately. Local representatives must monitor the daily operations to keep the place running well. "The new infrastructure has been developed at a cost of nearly Rs. 5 crore keeping in mind the convenience of family members accompanying patients admitted to the hospital," Saha said.
The government is building 12 shelter houses under the Tripura Urban Livelihoods Mission. Eleven buildings are finished. Nine already take in guests. Officials will open the last two soon. The state spent Rs. 26.88 crore on this entire project.
Saha has big plans for healthcare. A 100-seat medical college is coming to Dhalai district. He will lay the foundation stone in a few days. The state is also pushing for trauma and cardiac units in all district and sub-divisional hospitals.
