Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha ordered senior officials on October 3 to resolve a heated standoff involving resident doctors at Agartala Government Medical College and G.B. Pant Hospital. The doctors intend to start a pen-down strike at 9 am on October 5 if their demands remain unmet. Tensions boiled over following the unauthorized recording and distribution of a video involving a senior resident doctor.

Saha confirmed he received documentation regarding the dispute. He has directed staff to engage with the relevant parties immediately. The situation is now under legal review. "The doctors have also filed a case. We have forwarded the matter to the Home Secretary to take it up with the DGP and take appropriate action," the Chief Minister said.

The Resident Doctors' Association has issued four specific demands. They want the immediate arrest of those responsible for recording and spreading the video without consent. They also require legal action against social media pages and media outlets that published defamatory or misleading content. Furthermore, the association demands the immediate removal of all such digital material and wants public clarifications or apologies from those who spread the unverified information.

The medical staff previously held a sit-in outside the principal's office to protest the lack of privacy and security. They worry these incidents damage the trust between patients and doctors. Government officials now face a tight deadline to avoid a full-scale work stoppage on Monday.
