Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha opened an Urban Polyclinic at AD Nagar on Thursday. This move aims to bring quality medical care directly to residents. He also launched five Ayushman Arogya Mandirs via virtual link. These new facilities are located at Radhanagar, Dhaleswar, Jagaharimura, Ujan Abhoynagar, and Ramakrishna Shivalaya Ashram.
The state has now opened 1,110 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. These sites provide local access to primary care in rural and urban areas. Dr. Saha claims these upgrades keep patients from needing travel for medical aid. He says, "Providing accessible healthcare to the common people remains one of the key priorities of the state government."
Referral numbers support his claim. In 2023, 555 patients went outside the state for treatment. That figure dropped to 495 in 2024 and 366 in 2025. Only 161 patients required outside referral so far in 2026. The government continues to build both primary and specialized facilities to improve these numbers.
Attendees at the event included MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, and CMO Shankar Chakraborty. Officials and local representatives filled the hall. The administration intends to keep pushing for modern, people-oriented healthcare across the region.
