Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha just launched evening outpatient department services at every district hospital in Tripura. Medical care is now available to the public from 5 PM until 8 PM. This push aims to bring doctors to the people. It should also cut the crush of patients hitting major facilities.

Big institutions like Agartala Government Medical College, GBP Hospital, and IGM Hospital currently face heavy demand. State officials believe these extra hours will lighten that load. The Health and Family Welfare Department confirmed the rollout following a successful trial run in the Gomati District.

Health Secretary Kiran Gitte reviewed the Gomati facilities back in July. The government liked the results. Now, the plan covers the whole state. Dr. Saha wants better infrastructure. He expects these hours to help working families who cannot make it to clinics during the normal workday. As the Chief Minister noted, the initiative is meant to be a "major step toward expanding healthcare access" for all citizens.
