Agartala: Tripura is set to launch its first government Ayurvedic medical college and hospital. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine gave the green light for the project in the Gomati district. Chief Minister Manik Saha confirmed the news on October 6.

The facility will sit in Tepania. It will accept 60 undergraduate students every year. Saha noted the benefits for the local population. "Once the medical college starts functioning, people would have easy access to Ayurvedic health services in the state," Saha stated online.

Saha credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav for the approval. He expects the institution to bolster medical education across the state. This move follows a recent decision by the National Medical Commission to add 100 MBBS seats at the Agartala Government Medical College.
