Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced an 80 percent drop in patients referred outside the state for medical care. He credited this shift to upgraded hospital infrastructure and specialized facilities. Saha spoke on October 11 at the Nursing College in the AGDC and IGM Complex. He introduced the Emicizumab for All Persons with Severe Haemophilia A program during the event.
IGM Hospital in Agartala serves as the nodal site for the haemophilia initiative. Officials want to bring this treatment to district hospitals to stop patients from traveling. "The initiative would help improve access to treatment for people living with the condition," Saha stated. The Chief Minister confirmed that trauma care centers now operate in almost every district hospital. Cardiac care units are also active in multiple locations.
State authorities are building a dedicated mother and child hospital at Agartala Government Medical College. A new dental building is going up near the current Dental College. Crews are also building drug rehabilitation centers across the state, including a project in Bishramganj. Officials claimed that deaths from water-borne diseases in Dhalai district have been wiped out.
The state offers free vaccinations for certain breast and oral cancers. A ninth phase of a childhood mask campaign is starting soon. Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte and Director Dr. Debashree Debbarma attended the briefing. The government provided no raw data to verify the exact number of referrals before or after these changes.
