Agartala: Tripura BJP State Secretary Mimi Majumder led a protest on October 10 targeting Inner Manipur MP Bimol Akoijam. She demanded he resign from his post immediately. The demonstration centered on allegations from Akoijam's time as an academic at Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Majumder claims female students lodged complaints against him during his tenure. She pointed to an internal inquiry and disciplinary action taken by university officials as evidence. The BJP leader wants the Congress party to hold its own member accountable.

Majumder accused the opposition of hypocrisy. She says the party ignores misconduct when it involves their own ranks while attacking others. "Congress cannot maintain silence when allegations concern its own leaders while raising questions against others," Majumder said. She insists the party must take stern action if the claims hold weight.

The BJP frames this as a matter of national integrity and women's safety. The party cites its track record under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. No response from Akoijam was provided in the statement.
