Imphal: The Coordinating Body of Trade Union, Manipur, is fighting back. They claim a political conspiracy is trying to destroy Lok Sabha MP Bimol Akoijam. During a press conference at Irawat Bhavan, chairman Laishram Sotinkumar slammed allegations of sexual harassment against the lawmaker. He argued that the BJP and the RSS are weaponizing the controversy to ruin the MP's reputation.
Bimol has been a loud voice for Manipur in Parliament. Sotinkumar believes these attacks aim to silence that voice permanently. He stated, "The allegations against Bimol, who has raised issues concerning Manipur in Parliament, were a matter of serious concern." The union body plans to hold a public meeting to push for a fair investigation and clear facts.
Sotinkumar took aim at the BJP-led government regarding the national education system. He joined calls for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to step down. The union leader also claimed that money and dirty electoral tactics are currently wrecking the democratic process. His group remains committed to supporting Bimol against what they call false accusations meant to block accountability and justice for the people of Manipur.
