Agartala: Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy hit out at the Congress party on October 26. He claimed the opposition is manufacturing political instability because their electoral base is crumbling. Debroy argues that these parties are failing at the ballot box and resorting to cheap tactics instead.

He pointed to recent comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family as proof of this desperation. Debroy did not hold back. He claimed opposition leaders look for alternative routes to power when they lose fair fights. He name-dropped former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to back his point.

Debroy dragged history into the fray to bolster his claims. He cited the 1951-52 general elections and the disqualification of Indira Gandhi from Parliament to allege past electoral interference. He also accused opposition groups of trying to incite young people by referencing recent protests in Bangladesh.

Regarding the current Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Debroy dismissed the pushback as routine noise. He accused the opposition of applying double standards when they question electronic voting machines. He said, "The opposition's allegations reflected political frustration as the BJP continued to expand its presence across the country." He compared the situation in Tripura to Kerala and West Bengal, where he says parties only complain about election integrity when they lose.
