Police Seize 16kg of Cannabis at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala: Government Railway Police nabbed a 26-year-old man at the Agartala railway station on October 11. Officers discovered 16.305 kg of suspected cannabis hidden inside two trolley bags. The drugs have a street value of roughly Rs 8 lakh.

The arrest happened at 11 am near railway track No. 13. The suspect, Partha Biswas, hails from Sadhutila in the West Tripura district. Sub-Inspector Biswajit Das led the raid alongside other railway police personnel.

Authorities booked Biswas under case number 2026GRP073. Charges include violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police are now hunting for the origin of the stash. Regarding the ongoing investigation, officer-in-charge Raju Bhowmik said, "Police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the suspected cannabis and establish whether other individuals were involved in the alleged trafficking network."
