Agartala: East Agartala Police hauled in 18 kilograms of cannabis late Saturday night. Officers spotted two youths acting suspiciously while patrolling near the College Tilla Lake embankment. They stopped the pair, searched their belongings, and found the drugs.
Police took both suspects into custody immediately. They moved the men and the seized contraband to the East Agartala Police Station. Officer-in-Charge Krishnadhan Sarkar confirmed the bust resulted from high-alert patrolling in the area. "Our team noticed suspicious activity and conducted a search, leading to the recovery of 18 kilograms of cannabis," Sarkar said.
The department booked the suspects under current narcotics laws. Investigators are working now to track where the drugs came from and who was supposed to receive them. They suspect a larger trafficking network might be at play. Detectives are currently mapping supply routes to break up syndicates operating around Agartala.
Police vowed to keep the pressure on. They plan to increase patrols and surveillance across the city and nearby neighborhoods. Local residents in College Tilla welcomed the news after complaining about rising drug activity in their streets.
