KJP Girls' Guide Company Earns National Historical Unit Recognition

Shillong: The Bharat Scouts and Guides honored the KJP Girls' Guide Company of KJP Girls' Higher Secondary School in Jaiaw with the Historical Unit recognition. Officials handed over the award on November 4 during the Diamond Jubilee Celebration at the National Headquarters in New Delhi.

This status identifies groups formed by 1950 that stayed active. The KJP unit fits the bill. It has operated for decades and collected numerous state-level awards while teaching leadership and discipline. The group serves the community. Leaders including Padma Shri and Silver Elephant Award recipient Silverine Swer, S. Brilliancy Lyngdoh, and former Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides State Secretary Evelyne Nora Shullai steered the unit through the years.

The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides confirmed the honor in a recent press release. The school represents the movement's long history in the region.
