Shillong: BJP treasurer Sarwan Jhunjhunwala is pushing back against reports linking him to a trademark dispute over the LIVSAV brand. He says the reports in The Shillong Times from October 26, November 3, and November 5 are wrong. He maintains this is just a commercial spat between two businesses currently sitting before the Maharashtra High Court.
Pawan Bukalsaria, the managing director of Hindustan LIVSAV Products, first brought the allegations to the media. Jhunjhunwala finally issued a written response after staying quiet during the initial reporting phase. He stated he stepped down as a director of Reliabo Pharma India Pvt Ltd in March 2024. The company holds a valid trademark registration for Reliabo LIVSAV, issued by the Indian government on May 3, 2019, under registration number 4166239.
Jhunjhunwala denies any wrongdoing. He claims Reliabo Pharma operates within the law. The treasurer believes Bukalsaria is intentionally dragging his political title into the mud. He says, "Bukalsaria was invoking his political position to defame him and the BJP in Meghalaya."
The dispute remains in the courts. Jhunjhunwala finds the constant chatter on social media and in the press unnecessary. He insists the legal system should handle the matter instead of the court of public opinion.
