Agartala: West Agartala Police stopped a vehicle in the Lake Chowmuhani area during a late-night operation to smash drug trafficking rings. Officers acted on a tip, intercepted the target vehicle, and discovered a massive stash of cannabis hidden inside. The driver bolted from the scene before police could make an arrest.
Sanjit Sen, the Officer-in-Charge of West Police Station, confirmed the scale of the haul. "Weighing the contraband items, 192 kg of dry ganja has been recovered whose market value is approximately 96 lakh. The driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot. However, a case has been registered under specific sections of NDPS Act against the vehicle owner," Sen said.
Police have filed formal charges against the owner of the seized vehicle. Officers have boosted their presence in the neighborhood to deter any trouble while the investigation continues. Sen pledged to keep up the pressure on local dealers. The department expects to release more information as they track down the suspects involved in the smuggling operation.
