Kohima: Dimapur Police shut down an interstate drug pipeline on Tuesday. They hauled in three suspects and grabbed 3 kg of suspected narcotics near the Patkai Bridge Junction. The operation started at 2:10 PM after officers caught wind of two vehicles moving contraband through the area.
Cops searched the vehicles with a Gazetted Officer and independent witnesses present. They found the stash hidden inside a spare tyre. Officers booked 44-year-old Robinson Abonmai, 39-year-old Jeta Rai, and 37-year-old Ab Wilamdinnang for the crime. All three men live in Manipur’s Senapati District. The drugs allegedly originated in Churachandpur, Manipur, and were destined for Guwahati, Assam.
Authorities registered a case at the Chümoukedima Police Station under Section 21(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985, along with Sections 111 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated, "Dimapur Police said it remains committed to taking firm action against drug trafficking and dismantling organised narcotics networks." Investigators are now hunting for the intended recipient to expose the broader supply chain. Police asked the public to report drug tips, promising to keep informant identities secret.
