Kohima: Protesters kept the gates of Government Higher Secondary School Sungro locked on Wednesday. This marks the third day of an indefinite shutdown launched by Sungro Range civil society organizations. Students and village councils remain on the picket line to demand the immediate hiring of both teaching and non-teaching staff.
The agitators claim the persistent staffing vacuum has crippled daily lessons. They argue the neglect threatens the academic future of every student at the school. The Lotha Middle Range Students Union joined the fray after a press conference on November 3. They characterized the situation as an emergency.
The union issued a hard deadline. "The union demanded that the authorities concerned resolve the matter within 48 hours." Officials face a ticking clock. If the government fails to act, the union plans to escalate their protest actions immediately.
