Kohima: Mount Tiyi College in Wokha wrapped up its two-day Autumn Fiesta 2026 on October 30. Students showcased talents across literary and cultural events under the theme Roots, Rhythm and Revelry. Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao attended the final day as the guest of honor. He praised the students for their confidence and sharp delivery during the competitions.
Tsanglao centered his address on the weight of communication. He warned that language carries power that demands responsibility. He told the audience, "hearing and listening are two different things," urging students to seek true understanding rather than just building counterarguments. He also cautioned against over-relying on tools like ChatGPT, telling the students to prioritize independent verification over digital shortcuts.
The event schedule included a cultural salute, debates, and extempore speaking. Vice-Principal Dr. Khyopenthung Tsope opened the day while Alumni Association President Abemo Kikon delivered the final vote of thanks. The afternoon shifted to a cosplay and kite-flying session titled Dressed in Dreams, Soaring in the Sky. The celebration finished with Rhythms and Beats, which featured folk songs, dance, and a traditional couple show.
Competition results highlighted several top performers. Taichan Ovung took first place in painting, followed by Ntsithung Ovung. Hachilo Ezung won the extempore event, while Roslen Lotha of Bailey Baptist College placed second. Mhabeni T Ezung earned the title of Best Debater. The debate category winners included Nchunbemo E Ezung, Chonchilo T Murry, Mhabeni T Ezung, and Rhonthunglo Lotha.
