Nagaland SCERT Trains Educators on Kaushal Bodh Program

Kohima: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Nagaland wrapped up a three-day workshop on October 30. The session focused on the Kaushal Bodh initiative for middle school students. Teachers from 46 PM SHRI schools and eight District Institutes of Education and Training attended. They learned how to push project-based learning in the classroom.

Woshamo, Joint Director of SCERT Nagaland, gave the keynote address. He told attendees they must stop obsessing over the final product. Instead, they need to focus on how students actually learn. Woshamo said, "This approach enables students to develop critical thinking, curiosity, teamwork, collaboration and communication skills, while also underscoring the dignity of labour and a positive attitude towards work." He tasked DIET faculty with carrying this training to every district.

Kaushal Bodh covers classes six through eight. It uses structured projects centered on work with life forms, machines and materials, and human services. Students identify local needs and solve problems. The workshop agenda was packed. Day one covered curriculum planning and 30-hour project timelines. Day two moved to hands-on work with The Toys Lab and Tie and Dye projects. On the final day, participants tried Cooking without Fire and compared the program to 10 Bagless Days.

Lend A Hand India staff Nehali Ayare and Avanti Gajanan Harne led the training. Officials from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha, and the Nagaland Board of School Education joined the event. Rose Kithan chaired the opening, while Richard Asoso introduced the organization to the group. The training finished with certificate distribution and a deep dive into new monitoring forms.
