Nagaland Smashes MSME Registration Targets

Kohima: Nagaland blew past its official targets for small business and food safety registrations. Data from the Department of Industries and Commerce confirms the state hit 13,676 Udyam registrations against a 12,800 goal. It also cleared 3,423 FSSAI licenses, beating its 3,000-count objective. These results cover all 17 districts.

The effort runs under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance scheme. This project is backed by the World Bank and the Indian government. The Department of Industries and Commerce worked with the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation to get it done. The state reached 106.8% of its Udyam goal and 114.1% of its FSSAI target. Success matters. The FSSAI breakdown includes 3,321 basic registrations and 102 state-level licenses.

Costs dropped for local operators. Officials reimbursed Rs 57 lakh to more than 3,051 beneficiaries to cover registration and licensing fees. The Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission, and the Women Entrepreneurs Network of Nagaland provided key support. District Industry Centres handled the heavy lifting on the ground.

Women lead the charge. They represent 48% of Udyam sign-ups and 73.07% of the FSSAI beneficiaries. A DIPP report noted that the achievement "reflects the State’s efforts to expand the reach of formalisation initiatives and facilitate regulatory compliance among MSMEs and Food Business Operators." This push strengthens market access and keeps enterprises compliant with national standards.
