Mizoram Hits 40,000 Milestone in Business Registrations

Aizawl: Mizoram hit a major economic benchmark with 39,797 businesses now signed up under the Udyam system as of July. The Government of India operates this online portal to track and support micro, small, and medium enterprises. State officials confirmed the figures on Monday, August 31, highlighting a surge in local entrepreneurship.

The state government is moving to push goods beyond regional borders. They launched MadebyMizo.com to sell local products online. They also opened kiosks in New Delhi to put local crafts directly in front of national buyers. These efforts target a wider customer base for home-grown goods.

Bamboo remains a top priority for value-added production. Crews are now making incense and agarbatti from the plant. They are also turning bamboo into briquette charcoal at plants in Sairang and Chhingchhip. Near Aizawl, the Bamboo Technology Park is gearing up to pump out round sticks and toothpicks.

Scientific methods are changing the harvest. Workers planted T. oliveri at Khawzawl using the Hexagonal Honeycomb Terracing technique this year. Officials reported that the initiative "had yielded encouraging results" so far. To make these goods last, a chemical treatment facility is running at the Zuangtui Industrial Estate on the edge of Aizawl. All these moves aim to build a tougher, more competitive local industry.
