Kohima: Seventy-six students finished a three-month Adult Literacy Campaign in Wokha on September 22. They gathered at the Pangti Community Hall to celebrate their success. The course served the RD Sanis Block. Participants learned to write their names, recognize numbers, and record mobile phone digits.
Deputy Commissioner Wokha K. Mhathung Tsanglao attended the ceremony as the special guest. He pushed the graduates to keep learning. He noted the practical benefits of these basic skills in daily life. "There is no age limit to learning," Tsanglao told the crowd. He also urged husbands to back their wives' education and insisted on schooling for all daughters.
The program exceeded initial goals. Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer Nchumbemo Jami confirmed many participants went from not knowing how to write their own names to signing documents independently. Officials praised the group for their steady attendance and drive throughout the night school sessions.
Several groups organized the event. The Samyan Federation and Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission led the project. They worked alongside the Wokha District Administration, the Department of Social Welfare, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women under Mission Shakti, and the Department of Education.
