Lotha Students to Resume School Protest Over Staff Shortage

Kohima: The Lotha Middle Range Students' Union will restart protests on November 9, 2026. The department ignored a 48-hour deadline. Rhonbemo Murry and Lijanbeni M Ngullie sent a formal letter to the principal director of school education. They received no concrete assurance from the government. Teachers are missing in action.

GHSS Sungro serves 153 students. It holds the second-highest enrollment in Wokha district, trailing only GHSS Wokha. Students face an academic crisis because of the empty classrooms. The union claims the staff shortage is ruining the future of these kids.

Protests remain suspended until November 9 because of the Tokhu Emong festival falling on November 7. Once the date passes, the union will take hard action. They will shut all government institutions across the Lotha Middle Range. The union also plans to lock the SDEO Office in Sanis on Monday. The group warned: "The union had received no concrete assurance from the authorities." They expect the principal director to intervene immediately to stop the disruption.
