Nagaland Pushes for National Waterway 101 Development

Kohima: Nagaland advisor Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe met with Inland Waterways Authority of India chairman Sushil Kumar Lohani to map out the future of Tizu-Zungki National Waterway 101. They want results. The project aims to link Nagaland with South Asian neighbors to drive cross-border trade and bolster India’s Act East Policy.

The two officials also targeted the Doyang Reservoir, Noune Resort, and Shilloi Lake for major upgrades. They plan to harness these water resources to spike tourism and open new economic lanes across the state. Nyuthe stated that he expects the partnership "would accelerate the implementation of key projects and contribute to the state’s overall development."

Better infrastructure is the goal. By focusing on inland waterways, the state aims to fix connectivity gaps. This strategy hopes to turn neglected water bodies into engines for regional growth.
