Kohima: Nagaland Lokayukta Police hit the ground in Dimapur on September 25. They conducted a physical spot check of the Film Studio Project. A team of police, IPR officials, and an engineer from the Planning and Transformation Department joined the contractor at the site. They checked progress to ensure the job finishes by the October 2026 deadline. A joint coordination meeting follows in October to push the project forward.
Separately, Governor Nand Kishore Yadav met with the Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board (NKVIB) at Lok Bhavan in Kohima. The board functions under a 1978 act. They manage the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme. This scheme supports roughly 600 to 700 entrepreneurs every year. The board reviewed targets and bank sanctions across all 16 districts for the 2023 through 2026 period.
The review flagged persistent roadblocks. Entrepreneurs struggle with limited bank sanctions and demands for collateral. Loan amounts remain inadequate, and rural bank branches process credit slowly. The board also reviewed the Multi Disciplinary Training Centre in Dimapur. This site teaches weaving, knitting, leather work, and beekeeping. Governor Yadav scrutinized ongoing construction including the Handicraft Facility Centre in Kohima. Work there began April 1, 2026.
Other projects under review include the Common Facility Centre and Emporium for Handloom and Handicraft at Agri Expo in Dimapur. The board also touted the Centre for Promotion of Indigenous Handloom and Handicrafts at Diezephe. The Khadi Plaza in Dimapur remains a key focus. The board stated that the "Khadi Plaza is expected to be inaugurated soon." Future plans involve shifting to a public-private partnership model to operate centers in Dimapur and Kohima.
