Kohima: The District Industries Centre of Dimapur held a workshop for pineapple farmers on September 16. The event took place at City Centre, Medziphema, in Chumoukedima. The Department of Industries and Commerce ran the training to push the One District One Product initiative. They want more entrepreneurship and better MSME results.
Chikutoh Nyusou, the General Manager of DIC Dimapur, led the keynote address. He pushed for modern farming tactics. Farmers must focus on scientific growth, better post-harvest handling, and cutting waste. "The workshop aimed to equip pineapple growers with practical knowledge and skills, address challenges in cultivation and marketing, and create awareness of opportunities under the ODOP initiative," Nyusou said. He noted that pineapple remains a vital crop for local livelihoods.
Technical expert Zakietsono Jamir, who founded Coffee Lady, shared tips on processing and branding. She urged farmers to turn local crops into high-value goods. Kiyelu T Yeptho led sessions on value addition and running an enterprise. Later, staff covered digital business growth under the Make in Nagaland and RAMP programs. They pushed for using online platforms to find new customers.
Lika, a Project Associate with RAMP, chaired the day. Pikali Zhimo handled the RAMP introduction, and Jethro Mesen, Functional Manager at DIC Dimapur, closed the event with final remarks. In total, 78 growers attended from Razaphema, Molovom, Maova, Medziphema, Zhuikhu, Bungsang, Socunoma, and Tsiepama.
