MLA Khamo Urges Chakhesang Entrepreneurs to Prioritize Ethics

Kohima: Nagaland MLA Kudecho Khamo challenged the Western Chakhesang community to embrace entrepreneurship. He spoke at the Community Business Meet 2026 on Saturday. The event took place at the Mission Centre, Western Chakhesang Baptist Church Council in Chümoukedima. Khamo serves as Advisor for the Civil Administration Works Division. He pushed for economic independence over government job reliance.

Integrity defines long-term success. Khamo told attendees that business must focus on more than just profit. "Integrity, honesty and respect for customers must form the foundation of every successful business enterprise," he said. He advised entrepreneurs to conduct thorough market research and identify specific gaps before launching new ventures. He noted that the community's traditional strengths and hard work are vital assets.

The event highlighted the growing presence of Chakhesang people in thrift and vegetable trade. Participants discussed shifting away from dependency on political leaders. Instead, they must take personal responsibility for economic growth. The session included financial literacy training and calls for stronger internal partnerships to pool resources. Participants also looked to balance modern competition with cultural values and Christian faith.

The meeting featured a panel discussion moderated by Elizabeth Dozo Semp and Elijah Pfuno. Panelists Vepozo Dozo, Azolo Nuh, Akho Kezo, and Werite Kevichusa shared experiences on business networking. Sapralu Nyekha presented "Bubble Soft," a chemical-free homemade soap, as a model for local production. The WCH formally resolved to restart the Western Chakhesang Business Association and host this summit annually.
