Kohima: Kudecho Khamo, advisor for the Nagaland Civil Administrative Works Division, wants locals to stop buying from outsiders. He urged Naga entrepreneurs to enter the grocery, bakery, and confectionery sectors. People should stop chasing low-paying government jobs. The push came at the end of the 18 Chozuba A/C Baking and Confectionery Training Programme held at the WRD Conference Hall in Meriema.
This initiative involved the Women Resources Development Department and used funds from the 18 Chozuba A/C Local Area Development Fund. Khamo told the group that thinking is capital. He said, "Every successful entrepreneur, he said, starts with a modest investment, adding that a business can even begin from one's kitchen."
Khamo pointed to food processing as a high-potential field. He noted that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio provided specific funds to MLAs for community upliftment. Beginners must now focus on financial discipline and strong project proposals to win over banks. Aspiring business owners need to secure their own capital and build professional credibility.
Vilone Sakhrie, director of the Women Resources Development department, praised the leadership behind the training. Vekhozo Ringa, headmaster of GHS Japan Riba, told graduates they must compete to survive. Instructor Aoakum Difusa and trainee Dutalu Nienu shared feedback before Kudecho Khamo handed out new machinery to the participants. Rev. Vezopa Rhakho, pastor of CBCK, closed the session with a prayer.
