Guwahati: Assam officials set their sights on a massive harvest haul. The state government wants to secure 8.49 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the 2026-27 season. They will pay farmers a minimum support price of ₹2,441 per quintal.
The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the plan on November 1. This procurement drive runs from November 1, 2026, until May 31, 2027. Officials established 181 centres throughout the state to handle the intake. The state aims to "ensure fair returns for farmers and strengthen Assam’s agricultural sector."
Farmers must register with state agencies to participate. The grain must meet strict standards. Every batch of paddy needs to be clean, dry, and show a moisture content of no more than 17 per cent.
