Guwahati: Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika met with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang to tackle local farming hurdles. The state wants the land mapping project finished in four to five months. Officials say current land mutation delays block farmers from accessing PM-KISAN funds. The Directorate of Land Records must now provide software and staff to speed up the process.
Hazarika aims to fix these ownership gaps to ensure no farmer misses out on government aid. He pushed for local agricultural growth during the review meeting. The minister said, "The priority is to ensure that no eligible farmer in Karbi Anglong is deprived of government support or better market opportunities."
PepsiCo Director Sandip Samaddar joined the talks to scout for commercial potato expansion. The company wants to create direct market linkages for regional growers. A follow-up meeting between PepsiCo, officials, and progressive potato farmers is set for September 5. This session will map out specific income opportunities and cultivation strategies for the upcoming season.
