Imphal: Phungyar candidate Wungnaoshang Kasar wants the Election Commission of India to stop all state government hiring immediately. He claims the BJP-led government is rushing thousands of vacancies through the Education, Police, Health, PWD, Rural Development, and Secretariat departments to sway voters before the 13th Legislative Assembly elections.

Kasar alleges that middlemen connected to ministers and MLAs are demanding bribes for jobs. The petition lists specific prices: Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh for Sub-Inspector roles, Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh for clerks, and Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for Grade-IV positions. He also cited reports of question paper leaks and manipulated interview scores.

The candidate argues these acts constitute electoral bribery and violate Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. He demanded an independent investigation into all hiring since June 2026. "Kasar described the alleged practices as electoral bribery and undue influence," the petition states.

He also requested the Chief Secretary set up an anonymous helpline for affected job seekers. This filing follows earlier pleas to the Governor and Chief Minister regarding stagnant exam results. Kasar believes the state should finish old hiring cycles before starting new ones. He wants the Governor to force a full status report on the current hiring mess.
