INDIA Bloc Representatives Head to Delhi for Anti-Government Protest

Imphal: More than 60 INDIA bloc representatives left Manipur today. They are heading to the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi for the Vote Kallo, Leibak Kallo rally scheduled for November 1. The participants want accountability for electoral malpractice and the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The group plans to protest what they call the systematic theft of electoral mandates.

Kshetrimayum Santa, the Convener of the INDIA bloc in Manipur, released a statement hitting the BJP-led NDA government. He accused them of undermining democratic institutions by manipulating state elections. "The nationwide rally is being organised to protest what the opposition alliance describes as systematic theft of electoral mandates and growing threats to democratic institutions," the statement read. The event also highlights concerns regarding threats to the nation's democratic foundation.

Big names are taking the stage. Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, M.A. Baby, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and Dipankar Bhattacharya will address the crowd. Attendees also include representatives from student, youth, women, worker, and farmer organizations.

Former Chief Minister and MPCC president Okram Ibobi Singh leads the Manipur delegation. Congress Legislature Party leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh and Kshetrimayum Santa, who also serves as CPI(M) Manipur secretary, traveled with him. Additional INDIA bloc leaders from the state intend to join the team in the capital shortly.
