Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pushed back against an Opposition demonstration in Delhi on Saturday, October 10. He labeled the gathering an act of frustration. The Chief Minister spoke in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, to insist that the protests won't distract his administration from public welfare goals.

Sarma remains unmoved. The protest targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Opposition MPs organized the event following a lunch meeting at Moets in central Delhi hosted by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday, October 8.

Thousands joined the lawmakers for a march to Raj Ghat. The leaders staged a one-hour dharna before clearing out. Sarma stood by his criticism during his appearance in Uttarakhand. "When the Opposition is frustrated, they stage such spectacles. It makes no difference. Keep working for the people, and the people will continue to bless you," Sarma said.

The demonstration caused headaches for local commuters. Delhi Traffic Police imposed heavy restrictions across the area. Officials barred trucks and large commercial passenger vehicles, including the DTC buses that serve as the primary transport link for the National Capital Region.
