Guwahati: Tax officials kept the pressure on Jain Store through October 10. The State Goods and Services Tax department raid reached its fourth day in Dhubri. A team from Guwahati, bolstered by local Dhubri personnel, launched the operation on October 7. They are tearing through records.

The search covers the store's primary Dhanpatti business hub and multiple connected warehouses throughout town. Officials also raided a multi-storey house in Ward No. 2 owned by the proprietor. Investigators walked out with a desktop computer, account registers, and a pile of financial documents.

Jain Store sells dry goods like dates and cumin alongside seasonal firecrackers. A senior official heading the team remains silent on the investigation. The department has not issued a formal statement on the probe. Tax agents are still deciding on potential fines. "Further action, including the imposition of fines or penalties, would depend on the findings of the department’s examination and whether any tax-related violations are established." The investigation remains active.
