Guwahati: Authorities in Assam intercepted a passenger bus named Yatra on Friday, August 14. District Transport Officer Dibyajyoti Karjee led the operation in Dhubri. He acted on specific tips regarding the vehicle's illegal status. The bus is now off the road.

Inspectors found a laundry list of infractions. The bus operated without a valid permit and dodged statutory taxes. Mechanics altered the internal seating to exceed legal limits. The driver also used prohibited multi-tone horns. These loud devices violate noise pollution and transport safety standards.

This marks the third time this specific bus has broken transport laws. Officers escorted the vehicle to the Dhubri District Transport Office. Officials will now calculate fines and start formal legal proceedings. Regarding the crackdown, one transport official stated, "enforcement drives would continue across the district to curb tax evasion, unauthorised vehicle modifications and violations of safety regulations by commercial vehicles."
