Guwahati: Navya Nanda and Samyak Chakrabarty met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 9. The Nimaya Foundation co-founders proposed the GenAI Ready Naari programme. It targets young women from tribal and underserved backgrounds. They want to provide practical skills for modern jobs.
The project involves the Assam Investment Advisory Society and Ashoka University’s Centre for Social and Behaviour Change. The Gates Foundation provides support. It goes beyond technical coding. Training covers writing, research, data analysis, design, and marketing. It helps women launch businesses or scale traditional rural crafts. Digital tools will help these women reach new markets.
The program follows the National Skills Qualifications Framework and carries recognition from the National Council for Vocational Education and Training. Graduates earn national credentials and micro-credits via the Academic Bank of Credits. Nanda noted the program builds on existing creativity rather than replacing it. She wrote on Instagram: "Grateful to have received encouragement from Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma @himantabiswasarma ji for our vision to make the women of Assam GenAI Ready.”
The Assam Investment Advisory Society will leverage its local network for outreach. Ashoka University will provide research to ensure the curriculum meets local needs. Nimaya Foundation, founded in 2021, has already reached 10,000 women across five states. Ranjit Borthakur, president of the Assam Investment Advisory Society, believes these skills are essential for the changing economy. The group aims to ensure women lead in the age of artificial intelligence.
