Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma plans to build 60 new libraries across Guwahati. The project places one library in each of the city's 60 municipal wards. It is a big move. The state government wants to give students, researchers, and general readers a quiet place to hit the books.

Sarma took to X to share the news with city residents. He believes everyone should have the right spot to study without obstacles. "Book lovers in Guwahati, I have some good news for you," Sarma said in his post. These sites will offer specific facilities for reading and academic work.

This push aims to grow the local learning infrastructure. The government intends to make sure that a lack of space no longer holds back educational progress. Each ward will get its own facility to foster a culture of reading and research.
