Three Dead After Boat Capsizes in Assam

Guwahati: A boat capsized at Merbil in the Ghilmara area of Assam, killing three people. The victims were 45-year-old Padma Dutta, 22-year-old Ajit Dutta, and 11-year-old Mridusmin Dutta. They all lived in Dewalia village under the jurisdiction of the Ghilmara Police Station. Death came fast. The trio traveled to the lake to release their cattle when their vessel overturned in the rising water.

Police arrived quickly. Assisted by local residents, they launched a rescue operation to pull the victims from the water. Authorities recovered the bodies of all three individuals soon after the accident. Regarding the tragedy, officials stated, "Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the accident are awaited."
