Missing Assam man found dead in Tinsukia river

Guwahati: Search teams pulled the body of Tuna Mura from the Dhola River in Tinsukia on Saturday. The 55-year-old had been missing since November 4. He lived in No-Barmura village. Locals suspect Mura drowned while trying to cross the water to borrow money for his wife's medical care. She is currently a patient at Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital in Makum.

Witnesses claim the man could not swim. One local told reporters, "Mura might have tried to cross the river to borrow money." That account remains unverified by authorities. The exact cause of death is still under investigation.

Passersby spotted the corpse floating in the river and notified the local authorities. Officers from the Dhola police station and the Talap outpost conducted the recovery. Talap police took the body into custody for processing. Police are now digging into the facts of the case to determine exactly what happened.
