Itanagar: Delegations from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh gathered in Roing on November 2 to hash out boundary disputes between Tinsukia and the Lower Dibang Valley. The talks aim to settle long-standing territorial frictions through open dialogue. Both states prioritized mutual trust to reach a permanent agreement.
Assam Minister Atul Bora led his state's regional committee. The team included Minister Rameswar Teli, MLA Bolin Chetia, Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, and Superintendent of Police Anchal Chouhan. Consultant Dasarath Deka from the Border Protection and Development Department also attended alongside the Sadiya Co-District Commissioner and various circle officers.
Arunachal Pradesh sent a team headed by Minister Ojing Tasing. Joining him were Dambuk MLA Puinnyo Apum, Roing MLA Mutuchu Mithi, Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Fwwrman Brahma, and the district Superintendent of Police. The sides pushed for tighter coordination to manage the border effectively.
The committees view the sessions as a primary mechanism for state cooperation. Regional leaders insisted that the work requires patience. "The meeting also emphasised cooperation and mutual trust as key to achieving a peaceful and lasting settlement." Officials expect these efforts to eventually resolve all outstanding boundary-related concerns between the two neighbors.
