Itanagar: State officials met Tuesday at the New Circuit House in Biswanath Chariali. They focused on border friction between the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh and the Biswanath and Lakhimpur districts of Assam. The session pushed forward negotiations started under the Namsai Declaration.

Assam Cabinet Minister Keshab Mahanta and Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet Minister Balo Raja led the regional committees. Assam Minister Ranoj Pegu attended as vice-chairman alongside MP Ranjit Dutta and several MLAs. They want results. The group agreed to maintain the path set during their last gathering.

Deputy Commissioners will now handle 22 minor village disputes on their own. They must bring proposed solutions for two major issues to the next meeting. Officials from both states view direct coordination as the only way to settle the map. Ranoj Pegu shared his outlook on social media following the talks.

"We remain confident that the outstanding issues can be resolved amicably, strengthening lasting peace, mutual trust and harmonious relations between the two neighbouring states," Pegu stated on X. This dialogue aims to solidify peace between the neighbors.
