Kohima: The Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions, Cultures and Heritages based in Roing, Arunachal Pradesh, teamed up with Kohima Science College in Nagaland. Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on October 10 at the Khinjili campus to prioritize academic cooperation and the protection of local heritage.
RIWATCH Executive Director Vijay Swami and Kohima Science College Principal Dr. Temjenwabang inked the deal. This partnership targets joint research, student exchanges, and language documentation. It also aims to foster community programs that push for cultural sustainability across Northeast India.
Vijay Swami sees this as a bridge for the region. He shared plans to grow RIWATCH into a university called the University of World’s Ancient Traditions, Cultures and Heritages. Dr. Temjenwabang echoed this sentiment during the ceremony. He noted the agreement goes beyond simple paperwork. He said, "It laid the foundation for a lasting partnership based on shared knowledge, mutual respect and a common commitment to enriching traditional knowledge across the region."
The Kohima delegation featured Vice-Principal Kevilhuninuo Nagi, Dr. Moarenla Longkumer, Dr. Mhathung Yanthan, and Dr. Lilongchem Thyug. RIWATCH brought researchers including Dr. M S Awan, Dr. Nandini Dholepat, and Dr. Karabi Baruah. They will work together to study the history and academic concerns of the region.
