Kohima: The Naga Students Federation slammed the Indian Army on Tuesday following a drone strike on Langkho village. The village sits in a Naga self-administered zone on the India-Myanmar border. Two civilians, including a young girl, suffered injuries in the blast. The strike also leveled local property.
Federation leaders want accountability. They are calling for an impartial investigation to identify who pulled the trigger. "The targeting of a civilian-populated area raises serious questions concerning the principles of distinction, proportionality and precaution under international humanitarian law," the federation stated in a release. They demanded a transparent report from the authorities.
The group also fired shots at the Union Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. The government extended the AFSPA regime starting October 1, 2026. This move keeps the law active across the Naga homeland. The federation claims the act creates fear and alienates the local population. They want the law scrapped and military operations that threaten civilians halted immediately.
