Kohima: Prof Murari Lal Gaur, Vice Chancellor of Kaziranga University, Assam, officially opened the World Academic Centre during a virtual ceremony on September 26. Founded by Prof Zavise Rume under the theme of a knowledge society, the group links scholars from 11 countries. This list includes India, the US, France, South Korea, China, Palestine, Portugal, Israel, Nepal, Indonesia, and Australia.
The centre aims to pool intellectual resources from different nations. It wants to build a collective base for sharing information and research. Prof Rume described the launch as a historic occasion. He hopes the platform will help scholars bridge the gaps between disciplines and generations. Prof Gaur pushed for a culture rooted in three specific actions: connect, collaborate, and create.
Keynote speaker Dr. Wael Mustafa Abuhasan, a clinical health psychologist from Palestine, addressed the rising presence of Artificial Intelligence. He warned against fearing or surrendering to new tech. Instead, he argued for responsible use supported by human judgment and ethics. Speaking on the role of educators, he told the audience, "let us become its architects."
The event featured several prominent academic figures. Prof Panch Ramalingam of the Asia Pacific School Psychology Association and former Nagaland University professor Visier Sanyü offered formal greetings. Dr. Bongliba Sangtam, a research scientist based in China, introduced the current members. Dr. Rashmi, an assistant professor at Nagaland University, provided the closing remarks.
