Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma kicked off the Lunglei Gen-AI Mission at Government High School on November 6. The program aims to reach 5,500 students in 80 schools. It gives kids foundational skills in artificial intelligence. The District Education Office and CodeYogi Foundation run the show.
Students get 30 free one-hour modules. These cover AI platforms and real-world uses. Teachers will guide the work. The Chief Minister noted that Google Translate added Mizo in 2022. This helps locals talk to AI in their native tongue. Lalduhoma expects the state to go digital fast. "There is no reason why Mizoram cannot become a digital state," he said. He cited high literacy and widespread English skills as key assets.
Lalduhoma wants to expand the reach. He hopes to bring the program to other districts. The state government now uses a CSR Cell to pull in corporate funding for such projects. Other local efforts include a Cosmic Class, astronomy labs, financial literacy training, and a dropout recovery plan. The government also tracks menstrual health under Project Period Pride.
The administration has big goals. The Transformed Mizoram Vision 2047 aims to boost the state's share of India's GDP from 0.1 per cent to 1 per cent. Officials say this needs better teamwork between departments. The Chief Minister expects state workers to keep pace with new tech. He urged students to take the AI training seriously.
