Aizawl: Mizoram wants to be India's next silk and winter tourism hub. Chief Minister Lalduhoma laid out this plan on November 5 during a meeting in Serchhip district. He met with officials at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall to discuss economic expansion. The state currently holds the title of Ginger Capital of India, but the government seeks to diversify.
Lalduhoma outlined a bold vision for the future. He wants to boost the state share of national GDP from 0.1 percent to one percent. He noted, "Mizoram is working towards establishing itself as India's Silk Capital and Winter Capital." This effort ties into the state's Transformed Mizoram 2047 plan, which supports the central government Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative.
The administration intends to launch the CM Blue Mission. They also want to turn the state into a digitally advanced territory. Officials from 43 local government offices joined the meeting to iron out project bottlenecks and administrative headaches. This gathering marked the first time the state held a district-level review of this nature.
The Chief Minister demanded better coordination between departments to meet development goals. He challenged Serchhip to serve as a model for the rest of the state. Lalduhoma confirmed he will host similar review sessions in other districts to track progress and fix ongoing project delays.
