Mizoram Aims for Rs 25 Lakh Crore Economy by 2047

Aizawl: Mizoram has a massive target. The state wants its GSDP to hit Rs 25 lakh crore by 2047. Chief Minister Lalduhoma laid out this plan on September 21 during a NITI Aayog regional workshop. He expects per capita income to climb past Rs 16 lakh in the same window. This represents one percent of India's projected USD 30-trillion economy.

Big goals need teeth. Lalduhoma argued that the state requires stronger institutions and better delivery systems to succeed. He stressed that success depends on evidence-based policymaking and strategic planning. The State Institutions for Transformation will help departments coordinate and track results. "A vision has value only when it is translated into clear priorities, responsibilities, timelines, resources and measurable outcomes," Lalduhoma said.

NITI Aayog will keep the State Support Mission running in Mizoram for another five years. State Support Mission Director K S Rejimon and Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena joined the workshop to discuss the path forward. Lalduhoma pointed to the state's natural resources, young population, and tourism as primary growth drivers.

The state also looks toward the global map. Mizoram sits on the border with Myanmar and Bangladesh. This position plugs the state into India's Act East strategy. By leveraging this location and the region's cultural diversity, officials hope to push for long-term economic stability.
