Mizoram Fast-Tracks Handholding Scheme for Phase III Launch

Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma led a State Policy Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday, August 12, to plot the next steps for the Bana Kaih scheme. Officials gathered at the Planning and Programme Implementation Conference Hall to clear the path for Phase-III. They analyzed everything from loan payouts to the status of lingering applications.

Scheme CEO Lalfakzuala reported steady progress across the first two rounds. Phase-I saw 2,255 Progress Partners receive ₹18.33 crore. Another 3,113 partners joined in Phase-II with a budget of ₹4.25 crore, yet 2,135 applications sit waiting for verification. The committee ordered staff to speed up this process. They want money in the hands of eligible partners immediately.

Banks remain central to the effort. Out of 742 selected partners, 482 have already pocketed ₹44.05 crore in total loans. Mizoram Rural Bank leads the pack with ₹23.98 crore across 314 accounts. State Bank of India added ₹9.48 crore, while Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank provided ₹10.20 crore. Officials confirmed interest subvention payments reached 479 partners in two installments, totaling over ₹1.12 crore. Loan guarantee fees cost the state another ₹14.01 lakh, though 233 applications remain in limbo.

Collaboration with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development is ongoing. A project in seven Serchhip district villages now supports 500 partners with an investment of ₹625.45 lakh. During the meeting, officials discussed fresh guidelines for the upcoming phase. The government also plans to boost advertising. Regarding the scheme’s future, Chief Minister Lalduhoma emphasized the need for efficiency and strict oversight. The administration intends to roll out updated procedures when Phase-III hits the ground.
