Mizoram Wins Opener as Forfeits Shake Junior Hockey Nationals

Aizawl: Mizoram kicked off their run at the 16th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2026 with a 2-0 shutout against Kerala. The August 15 Division B, Pool A match marked the fourth day of tournament play. Mizoram walked away with three points. In the same pool, Assam erased a one-goal deficit to knock off Andhra Pradesh 2-1.

Division B saw lopsided scores elsewhere. Karnataka dismantled Uttarakhand 6-1 in Pool B. Bihar cruised past Goa with a 6-0 scoreline.

Action in Division C proved just as decisive. Gujarat bested Puducherry 3-1 during their Pool B fixture. Meanwhile, the combined side of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu blanked Hockey Arunachal 2-0 in Pool A.

Administrative issues shifted the standings as well. Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir received 5-0 wins after the Tripura Olympic Association and Telangana forfeited their scheduled matches.
