Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma wants the state to build the next national futsal powerhouse. He spoke on July 31 at an event honoring Tlangnuam Futsal Club, the winners of the AIFF Futsal Championship 2025-26, held in Aizawl. The goal is simple. Create players good enough to get India into the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
"Mizoram should aspire to produce players who can become the backbone of the Indian national team and help the country qualify for, and excel at, the FIFA Futsal World Cup," Lalduhoma said. He pushed the Mizoram Football Association and the athletes to show real grit. Tlangnuam FC just grabbed its first national title, but the Chief Minister insists they should not stop there. He told the team to target the AFC Futsal Asian Cup next.
The government is backing the push. Lalduhoma highlighted the Bana Kaih scheme, which targets sports development as a priority. State officials are busy upgrading old facilities and building new football infrastructure. The government plans to keep funding these projects to give local youth a better path to the pros.
