Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma opened the renovated Mizo High School Field on Thursday. Aizawl Smart City Limited spent Rs 16.06 crore on the project. The facility now boasts a two-level parking garage built for 80 cars and 47 motorcycles. It also includes a 35,000-litre water tank, public restrooms, and a security room.

The complex offers an elevated jogging track and a cycling path. Athletes can use the cricket practice pitch, open gym, and the 73.35 by 33.12 metre grass field. The site holds 310 people. Children get a play area and garden. Lalduhoma praised the past and current administrations for the work. He said, "The name Mizo High School Field had been restored as the field had been popularly known by that name for many years and had played an important role in nurturing athletes."

Urban Development Minister K. Sapdanga attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Health Minister Lalrinpuii and Environment Minister Lalthansanga also joined the inauguration. Workers built a replica of the first church in Mizoram, which sat on this ground on June 10, 1896. A committee of government officials, NGO leaders, Zarkawt Local Council members, and the school principal will oversee the property. Aizawl Smart City Limited handed the site to the General Administration Department upon completion.
